Путешествие к горячим источникам в день зимнего солнцестояния: лучшие купальни страны
Winter Solstice Hot Spring Getaway
Around the Winter Solstice (late December), it’s the best time for hot springs in China. The colder the air, the more satisfying the soak.
Tengchong Volcanic Hot Springs, Yunnan
Tengchong’s Hot Sea area has 99 natural spring vents with water reaching 102°C. The famous “Big Boiling Pot” shoots steam skyward — you can buy eggs cooked in spring water right at the scenic area. Stay at a hot spring hotel nearby for instant access.
Tangshan Hot Springs, Nanjing

Tangshan has over 1,500 years of history as a royal bathing site since the Southern Dynasties. Today it offers both luxury resorts and affordable public pools. The sulfur-rich waters are great for skin. Locals regularly come for half-day soaks on winter weekends. Just 40 minutes from downtown Nanjing.
Changbai Mountain Hot Springs, Jilin
Soaking in outdoor springs at -20°C, frost forming on your hair while your body stays warm — this “ice and fire” experience is unique to Changbai Mountain. After your soak, visit Tianchi (Heaven Lake) and the rime ice formations. December to February is ideal.
Hot Spring Etiquette
- Shower thoroughly before entering any pool
- Tie up long hair or wear a swim cap
- Don’t put towels in the spring water
- Limit each soak to 15-20 minutes
- Drink plenty of water after soaking
Tips: Many hot spring resorts host special events on Winter Solstice — dumpling feasts, bonfires. Check and book in advance.
