About Qingming Festival
Qingming (Tomb-Sweeping Day) falls around April 4-6 each year. It’s a time for ancestral tomb visits and spring outings. China gets a 1-day holiday (usually extended to a 3-day weekend), and warming temperatures make it perfect for getting outdoors.
City-by-City Picks
Beijing: Yuyuantan Park cherry blossoms (free, late March to mid-April), Baiwangshan hiking with city views, Tanzhe Temple tranquility (55 yuan).
Shanghai: Gucun Park cherry blossoms (20 yuan, Shanghai’s largest cherry garden), Chongming Island cycling through rapeseed flower fields, Zhujiajiao water town strolls (free entry).
